About
Founded in 1978, the Triad German Club is a non-profit organized for the purpose of promoting the German language, culture, tradition, and literature in the Triad area of North Carolina.
The annual activities and productions of the Triad German Club include:
Oktoberfest, at which German Music is played by the Little German Band of Raleigh, NC and which features numerous traditional dances and costumes.
At the annual Adventsfeier, during the Christmas season, German carols are sung and religious and inspirational stories and poems are read.
In the Spring, a traditional Fasching celebration, the German equivalent to the French Mardi Gras, is held.
Also during the Spring the Triad German Club sponsors a Kulturabende, usually held at Reynolda House. This event features renditions of selected pieces of classical German chamber music, poetry readings from famed German poets, selected short stories of noted German authors, and on numerous occasions talented singers have performed lieder (songs) by German composers.
All our events are usually quite well attended and have proved to be an effective tool, bringing the German culture and traditions to the Triad community.
